Housing

Under the Settlement Grants Program the Migrant Information Centre provides assistance to eligible clients to secure appropriate and affordable housing accommodation. Through support provided from July to December 2017 64% of housing assistance was provided to maintain housing including addressing tenancy issues, repair and maintenance concerns, utilities issues and rental assistance. Over this period 36% of housing assistance was focused on securing housing which included private rental application process, process to secure housing (bond loans, condition reports etc), public housing and homelessness issues. During this period MIC successfully housed 23 families into private rental which involved lodging 71 rental applications.

All clients are offered the opportunity to provide feedback on the housing services they received from MIC. In addition to this, the MIC conducts a telephone survey of a number of randomly selected clients who have accessed Settlement Services in the past six months. Below are the results of this survey, specifically undertaken with clients who received assistance with housing.
