Make a Difference in Your Community
Volunteering with the Migrant Information Centre (MIC) is a rewarding way to give back while supporting people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities across Melbourne’s east.
Whether you have a few hours a week or more time to contribute, we offer a range of meaningful volunteer opportunities. You’ll receive training, ongoing support, and the opportunity to develop new skills while making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Volunteer Roles
🏡 Social Visits for Older People
Help reduce social isolation by visiting older people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in their homes or residential aged care. Your companionship can make a real difference to someone’s wellbeing.
🚗 Driving Mentor
Support refugees and newly arrived migrants to build their driving confidence by providing supervised on-road practice using MIC’s dual-control vehicle, complementing lessons with qualified driving instructors.
📚 Homework Support & Tutoring
Assist refugee and migrant primary and secondary school students with homework, literacy and English language skills through our after-school programs in Croydon, Heathmont and Ringwood.
🚌 Transport Assistance
Support clients to attend essential appointments by accompanying them on public transport or providing transport by car. Approved travel expenses are reimbursed.
🤝 Practical Settlement Support
Help individuals and families build confidence and independence by assisting them to understand local services, navigate everyday life and develop practical living skills in Australia.
💻 Administration Support
Provide valuable behind-the-scenes assistance with filing, data entry, mail-outs, record keeping and general office administration.
🎉 Program & Event Support
Assist staff in delivering community programs, including playgroups, English conversation groups, community events, excursions and school holiday activities.
♿ Disability Social Support
Support people with disability (under 65 years) and their carers to participate in community activities, build social connections and enhance their wellbeing.

Use your creative skills to assist with graphic design, social media, communications, photography, promotional materials and community engagement initiatives.
