Thank You!

MIC supports the community through two funds: The Settlement Support Fund and the Hannah Kinross Fund. Your generosity means we can continue to help people in severe financial crisis and support young people to join local sporting clubs to promote a healthy lifestyle and socialise with others in the wider community.

100% of all the donations received go directly to help individuals, families and young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds

Settlement Support Fund

The MIC’s Settlement Support Fund provides direct assistance to new migrants and refugees living in the eastern region of Melbourne who are experiencing financial hardship or crisis.

MIC recognises that individuals and families sometimes who are new to Australia sometimes face unexpected costs and/or fall into financial hardship or crisis. We are collecting funds to assist our work in this area.

We need your support. One hundred per cent of all donations will be used to provide food and other essential household items to people from refugee or migrant backgrounds to help them through this difficult time. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. All donations of $2.00 or more are tax deductible.

For more information, please contact the MIC on (03) 9285 4888 or mic@miceastmelb.com.au

Our staff volunteer their time to hold fundraising activities annually to raise money so these funds can continue to assist our clients. If you would like more information about a fundraising event please contact us.

SUPPORTING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES

Hannah Kinross, a valued staff member at the MIC, tragically passed away in the Kakoda plane crash in 2009. Hannah worked tirelessly at the MIC to promote healthy lifestyles and facilitate pathways for inclusion in healthy activities for young people and children from refugee and migrant backgrounds.

The benefits of participating in healthy activities and sports are plentiful especially as a positive tool for settlement, however, many refugee and migrant parents of young people struggle with the financial commitment involved in engaging in such activities thus creating vast barriers to participation.

In memory of Hannah the MIC set up the ‘Hannah Kinross Fund’ to continue her efforts and support young people to join sporting clubs and participate and engage in other healthy activities. If you would like to donate to the Hannah Kinross Fund and continue her legacy please donate here. 100% of money donated to this fund will go directly towards the costs of young people and children participating in healthy activities.
