Help Families Feel Safe, Connected and Supported
As we reach the end of another financial year, we are reflecting on the growing needs within our communities, and the important role we all play in helping families feel safe, connected, and hopeful.
At the Migrant Information Centre (Eastern Melbourne), we support newly arrived and emerging communities across Melbourne’s East. Every day, we walk alongside young people, parents, older community members, and families navigating the challenges of settlement, isolation, financial hardship, trauma, and displacement.
Through our programs, we help people access safety, housing, food relief, mental health support, employment pathways, youth engagement programs, and community connection. We also support individuals and families experiencing family and sexual violence to access the help and support they need.
THE NEED FOR SUPPORT CONTINUES TO GROW
The Heart of Our Work
Many families in our community are carrying enormous emotional and financial pressure. While rebuilding their lives in Australia, many are also supporting loved ones overseas affected by war, conflict, and instability.
One father recently shared with us that while working two casual jobs to support his family in Melbourne, he also sends money overseas every week to help relatives displaced by war. Despite the challenges, his focus remains on creating opportunities and stability for his children.
These stories remind us why community support matters.
At MIC, we do more than provide services — we create connection, dignity, belonging, and hope. With your support, we can continue standing beside families when they need it most.
YOUR DONATIONS CAN PROVIDE
• $20 can help someone stay connected through access to a mobile phone
• $50 can contribute towards medications or household utility costs during winter
• $100 can provide emergency food vouchers for a family doing it tough
• $150 can help newly arrived families keep warm with essential winter clothing
• $250 can help children participate in sport and extracurricular activities
