The MIC Young Women’s program is for newly arrived female youth aged 16-20 years old from a refugee or family stream background, who live in the outer eastern region of Melbourne. Through group discussion, team building, hands-on and self-reflection activities, participants are encouraged to increase their knowledge and resources, develop skills and build resilience to enable them to actively engage in their education, community and family life. The program will help participants to develop confidence and self-esteem, empathy and appreciations for each other, explore body image, recognize and manage thoughts, feelings, emotions and conflicts better, and navigate relationships well. The content covered in the program is also be largely driven by input from the participants themselves.
